Bitton Parish History Group
Professor Ronald Hutton will take us on a spirited journey through the history of seasonal festivals in Britain.
The origin of customs that are still with us today, like Christmas cards and hot cross buns will be explored by Ronald Hutton, Professor of History at the University of Bristol. Along the way, we hope to learn about British folklore traditions like the real significance of the May Pole, why the Puritans banned Christmas, and the magical properties of St John’s Wort.
All welcome. You do not need to be a member to attend.
